Why Baby Slings?

Baby Cries Less
Research has shown that babies who are carried cry (on average) 43% less overall and 54% less in the evening time. In clutures where it is the norm to carry babies all the time, babies cry much less than those in non-carrying cultures.

Brain Development
Babies spend more time in a "quite, alert state" when carried - the ideal state for learning. Their senses are stimulated when carried. When baby is being carried it sees the world from where you do - not from the pushchair or the crib, they feel more a part of their surroundings. The extra stimulation benefits brain development.

Growth
Being so close to your body's rhythms, your newborn "gets in rhythm" much more quickly. Your heartbeat, breathing, voice and warmth are all familiar and this has been shown to help newborns adapt to life outside the womb faster.

Security
This position most closely resembles being in mother's womb so babies feel more secure and natural.

Hands free
Mum's hands are free while nursing or walking baby to sleep - so you can play with your older children or get things done around the house. Shopping becomes much easier when you don't have to navigate a heavy stroller around a shop.
